Y4 Autumn term parent info

Class 3 have begun rehearsals …

…for their upcoming performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Octagon Centre, Sheffield.  It promises to be a fun event and already some potential future thespians have come to light!!

Temple Newsam…

On Wednesday Class 3 went on a trip to Temple Newsam, Leeds.  Temple Newsam is Tudor House and we had a great day looking around and finding lots of Tudor features such as secret doorways, wood panelling and we even saw a bed that Henry VIII has slept in!

We also looked at the clothes that rich Tudor people would have worn and we were amazed at the rich colours that were used, the fabrics and the jewels that both the men and women wore.  We were even given the opportunity to dress up as Tudors!

In Year 3 we have been learning how to write insructions.

We looked at a variety of recipes focusing on the language used and the layout of the text.  We then used this to write our own recipes for a ‘soup’ to give to the Grandma from George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl.  As Grandma is not a particularly nice character we had to make our soup as horrible as she is!
