We believe that home learning should be varied, accessible and relevant to all children and their home circumstances.  We recognise that some of our children participate in other activities out of school which provide them with valuable learning experiences.

Daily Reading

We encourage all children to read at home every day.  Pupils are provided with a reading record book for parents to sign or comment.  Personal and whole school incentives are in place to promote home reading.

Weekly Spelling

Every week the children will be learning a spelling pattern or phoneme (sound) in class.  They will be given a list of words to learn at home and to practice the given spelling pattern or phoneme.  Each week the children will have a spelling test in school including some of these words and others that follow the same pattern.

Weekly Maths

Every week the children will be given a set of number facts or times table to practice and learn.  These will be related to their maths target.

Every half term

Every half term children will be given a set of 6 optional home learning tasks, including some activities relating to the current learning project.  These are intended to encourage the children to develop their own learning beyond the classroom and the curriculum.
